Eligibility criteria

This studentship is eligible to all students worldwide. You will have to meet the individual eligibility requirements for the research courses to be eligible for this studentship.

How to apply

If you are interested in applying, you will need to submit three applications to be considered for funding under the UGPN joint-dual degree scheme between the University of Surrey and the University of Wollongong: an online application for a place on both a Surrey and Wollongong PhD course and a funding application form.

Please follow the three-stage process below to help you prepare and submit your application.

Identify and speak to a supervisor

You must have at least two academic supervisors from the University of Surrey and one from the University of Wollongong. Please contact your prospective supervisors to discuss project options before completing the applications.

Surrey: Within each of the research course pages you will find links to academic schools and departments and staff lists. Use the staff lists to identify a prospective supervisor. If you have difficulty identifying a prospective supervisor, the postgraduate research director for the department might be able to help you.

Wollongong: You will need to select and identify a potential supervisor on the Wollongong website.

Apply for a place on a PhD course

You can access the online applications via the programme page for the PhD that you wish to study here at Surrey and Wollongong.

Please make sure you indicate on your application that you are applying for the UGPN joint-dual degree scheme. You are also advised to ensure that you include your degree transcripts and references in the application – not providing these documents can slow the process down.

Complete a funding application form

In addition to applying for a place on a postgraduate research course, you will also need to complete an application form. The application form should be completed by the applicant in conjunction with their proposed supervisors. Please also refer to the guidance notes which will assist you in filling in the application form.

Deadline

Your application for a postgraduate research course, both at Surrey and Wollongong, and your studentship application must be submitted by 10:00 GMT 24 May 2019. Late applications will not be accepted.
