Following a productive 20-year career in investment banking, most latterly as a Managing Director in Hong Kong running ING Bank’s Asia-Pacific Structured Finance business, Patrick took the opportunity afforded by the global financial crisis to move into university administration.
As Director of Development at the University of St Andrews, he was architect of their hugely successful 600th anniversary £100m fundraising campaign, with HRH Prince William as Patron.
He then joined the University of Surrey in 2017, where now, as Vice-President (External Engagement), his portfolio brings together all of the University’s external engagement activities globally, including Advancement (leading teams responsible for managing and developing the University’s enduring relations – both philanthropic and otherwise – with its <120,000 alumni and supporters), University events, trans-national education, international partnerships, student and staff mobility, public and community engagement, and international student recruitment strategy.
